Nowadays, it is very difficult to meet a tourist who, having been on vacation in Egypt, never went to any store. But in ordinary shops and shops there are often no price tags, and local merchants strive to name the price much higher than the existing one, seeing a foreigner in front of them. However, there are shops in Hurghada where everything is civilized, no one invites you, no one invites you to have tea, write a review, or just talk or ask. These are chain supermarkets with fixed prices and cash registers. There is no need to bargain here, and most importantly, you can quickly fill your basket with everything you need.
Sometimes the prices for some products in such supermarkets are much lower than street ones.

But if you want to get to know the original eastern side of Hurghada, be sure to visit the vegetable market in Dahar district in the old city center. Here you can buy all kinds of fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices in any season and time of the year. Prices for seasonal fruits are always very low. If you do not like extra spending, and want to buy a large amount of fruit, then take them in season. In winter, these are oranges, tangerines, strawberries. In the summer — melons, watermelons, apples. In the fall — dates, pomegranates, grapes, guava. The share of imported fruits is not typical for the Egyptian climate: pineapple, kiwi, some types of apples, plums. Their prices are always higher than locally grown fruits and vegetables.
For fresh fish and seafood, it is better to go to the fish market. It is located in Sakkala, next to the new mosque and the port of Hurghada. For a small surcharge, the fish will be cut, cleaned and chopped, or even grilled.
Remember that consumer rights are protected by Egyptian law. If you happen to buy expired products or low-quality goods, then if you have a receipt, the situation can be resolved.
And finally, a little advice, when going to the supermarket or the market — do not be afraid of something new, in Egypt there are a lot of products that are worth trying and which will become your favorite dishes on the table!
