The Egyptian prosecutor’s office got a case of a provocative photo shoot of a model in the Egyptian archaeological region of Saqqara. The case was transferred there for investigation by the Secretary General of the Antiquities Council, Mostafa al-Waziri.
The scandal erupted after a photo shoot at the Saqqara archaeological site went viral on social media. A woman in a rather revealing dress and jewelry stylized as the era of Ancient Egypt poses against the backdrop of the colonnade and pyramids of Sakkara.
As the activists, who were supported by some archaeologists, said the photos were inappropriate, and the photo session itself was «an insult to the archaeological site of Saqqara and the clothes of the pharaohs.» However, to the taste of a European, this photo shoot at the Step Pyramid of Sakkara is completely innocent, moreover, it can be called even puritanical (scroll through the pictures at the top of the article).
Antiquities Council General Secretary Mostafa al-Waziri said the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is always committed to preserving the history of ancient Egyptian civilization. Moreover, when a request for permission for a photo session is received by the authorities, many details are agreed, including the exact location of the shooting and the clothes that will be worn during the photo session. Anyone who fails to comply with these requirements will be punished.
Our reference: Sakkara is a famous area 23 km south of Cairo on the western bank of the Nile (as well as the famous pyramids of Giza) — these are the ruins of an ancient necropolis of the times of the Late and New Kingdoms, as well as ancient Memphis — the capital of the Old Kingdom, the burial place of the Egyptian nobility … The most famous landmark of Sakkara is the Step Pyramid — the oldest surviving large stone structure in the world.
However, we recall that the Egyptian pyramids experienced not such a spectacle. The most scandalous photo session < / a> distinguished himself in November 2018, then the Danish photographer and the girl accompanying him managed to climb the Great Pyramid of Cheops, where they photographed themselves naked, causing the anger of many Egyptians who considered this depraved act offensive. In an interview with the Danish channel Ekstra Bladet, photographer Andreas Hvid said that he had always dreamed of climbing the Great Pyramid and being photographed naked on top of it. He added that he is now very upset, as some people are angry with him for this.
Hvid said that he tried to climb the pyramid with a friend twice, and both times ended in failure. The first time he asked the guards to allow them to climb the pyramid, but they were not allowed to, the second time they were arrested while trying to climb the pyramid, and then were released after interrogation.
On the third try, the Danish tourist succeeded. He later said that he and his girlfriend chose a different route, away from the guards, and waited for the tourists to leave the pyramid. They climbed the pyramid and were able to reach the summit in 25 minutes. Hvid said that he did not have sex at the top of the pyramid, but only starred naked.
By the way, then in Egypt, a camel driver and a woman guide were arrested, who illegally brought tourists to the pyramids on the night of November 29. This service cost the tourists 4’000 Egyptian pounds. At the same time, it is officially forbidden to approach the pyramids at night. As well as climbing them …
