The SOGAZ Insurance Group reviewed the cost of medical services in popular holiday countries among Russian tourists. The company’s experts came to the conclusion that the cost of treatment can be impressive not only in an elite Israeli clinic, but also in an ordinary traumatologist in Thailand.
So, unlike hotels and restaurants, medicine in Turkey is expensive, and treatment is by no means all-inclusive. So, calling an ambulance crew will cost a tourist $ 70-100. One day of hospitalization also costs about the same. And if you suddenly need an emergency surgical intervention, then, for example, an abdominal operation in a Turkish clinic will cost from $ 1000 to $ 2000. A stay in the intensive care unit will cost another $ 200-500 per bed per day.
Egypt is the same mass holiday destination for Russians as Turkey. In most areas, prices for medical services in these countries are comparable. At the same time, surgery is more expensive: an emergency abdominal operation in an Egyptian clinic will cost $ 5000-8000, and a day in intensive care will cost $ 500-1000.
In Thailand, a wide range of prices for medical services, prices depend on a specific city, area, level of the clinic. For example, the cost of an ambulance trip varies between $ 50-150, and the day of hospitalization is $ 50-300. In Bali, a visit to a doctor for an injury or an initial appointment for an illness costs $ 70-120.
In Europe, one visit to the doctor will cost 200-250 euros. A week of hospitalization — depending on the country — will cost from 1 thousand to 7 thousand euros.
The high cost of treatment in the United States has become, perhaps, the talk of the town among experienced tourists. Of course, if necessary, emergency help by calling «911» will arrive quickly, and medical services will be provided with high quality. But the bill will be impressive: calling a medical team — $ 800-1500, one day of hospitalization — $ 2000-3000, and surgical intervention with subsequent resuscitation will cost at least $ 30 thousand.
Separately, it is worth indicating the approximate cost of air ambulance work. It is used in especially severe cases, when doctors decide to transport a bedridden patient home for further treatment. Delivery of a patient from Turkey can cost $ 25 thousand, and from Thailand — $ 70 thousand.
