In Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh in 2013, Russian consulates and representative offices of Rostourism will be opened. It was decided to take such measures in connection with the high popularity of Russian tourists’ recreation in the resorts of Egypt and the presence of a large Russian diaspora there, the head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Alexander Radkov said at a press conference. Also, in order to increase the safety of our tourists’ rest in Rosturizm, it is planned to introduce electronic registration of tourists on the department’s website, as well as to create an operational headquarters inside it to resolve urgent issues arising from tourists during their holidays.
As it turned out, the issue of opening consulates in Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh was raised at the Ministry of Economic Development. It is planned that they will begin their work in 2013. «The need for consulates there is explained not only by the large number of our tourists who visit Egypt every year, but also by the large diaspora of Russians permanently residing in these resorts,» said Gocha Buachidze, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, about 20 thousand Russians permanently reside in Egypt. The readiness to open their offices in the Red Sea resorts in 2013 was also announced by the head of Rostourism Alexander Radkov. “At present, all the necessary legal work on this issue is being carried out. The main functions of the missions will be to provide assistance to Russian tourists directly at the resorts, ”explained Mr. Radkov.
Also, within the framework of Rostourism, in the near future, in order to increase the level of safety of rest of Russian tourists in foreign resorts, the possibility of voluntary registration of citizens on the department’s website will be introduced. “Currently, we intend to introduce changes to the regulations of Rostourism, but all the technical issues for the start of such registration have already been resolved,” the head of the department explained. However, Rosturizm does not intend to stop at this: the tourist market regulator plans to create an operational headquarters to solve urgent issues arising among tourists during their holidays. “In connection with a number of unpleasant incidents that took place with our tourists this year, we decided to create an operational group within Rostourism. At present, a complex issue of technical equipment for the group is being resolved, ”summed up Mr. Radkov.
