The first Turkish Airlines plane since December 2015 landed in Sharm El Sheikh on Sunday. According to the carrier, the flights will operate four flights a week from Istanbul. At the same time, according to TASS, on the first plane, among the 150 tourists who arrived, there were also independent «illegal immigrants» from Russia.
Turkish Airlines stopped flights to Sharm el-Sheikh after the crash of the A321 Kogalymavia liner, which crashed in the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt on October 31 last year. All 224 people on board were killed. So far, the Egyptian commission of inquiry has not submitted a final report on the causes of the plane crash. A terrorist attack is considered one of the main versions.
At the moment, the Russian delegation is checking the airports of Cairo, as well as the country’s resorts. Recall that within the framework of the G20 summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi agreed to send another Russian delegation to deal with the issue of settling technical details for restoring air traffic between the countries.
We will remind that earlier the vice-president of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RTS) Yuri Barzykin said that Russian tourists can return to Egyptian resorts this fall. Then the expert recalled that the parties are negotiating the creation of separate terminals for Russians or boarding gates intended exclusively for tourists from the Russian Federation. In addition, the vice-president of the PCT did not rule out that Russian specialists would also monitor security at Egyptian airports. “All this enhances the level of security, and this suggests that Egypt can be opened to our tourists in the fall, closer to October. By the way, now it is not the season in Egypt anyway, it’s too hot, ”said Yuri Barzykin.
