Hurghada hotels saw an explosive increase in occupancy at the end of May due to the official opening of domestic tourism in Egypt.
Hotels in Hurghada and El Gouna were filled in the last days of May by 25%. That is how many guests the hotels could accommodate in the last ten days of May by the decree of the Ministry of Tourism.
Hotels in Hurghada and El Gouna also hosted a large number of employees of the diplomatic corps working in Egypt, who came en masse from Cairo to rest on the Red Sea, diplomats from Muslim countries combined their vacation with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
Restaurants, bars and hotel beaches work as usual, but all safari, diving, boat trips and excursions are not yet available.
The Joint Inspection Committees of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Ministry of Health, the chambers of hospitality institutions and representatives of the Red Sea governorate continued to actively inspect hotels to ensure the safety of the health of guests and full compliance with their regulations.
Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Anani previously announced that hotels will operate at a maximum capacity of 25 percent until June, and starting June 1, hotels will be allowed to fill up to 50 percent of their capacity.
Starting in July, after running in hotels in domestic tourism, charter flights with tourists from Europe begin to be massively operated to Hurghada. German tourists will take the first place here, flights will be carried out practically from all major cities of Germany.
As for Russian tourists, the issue of foreign tours remains in limbo, Russian officials are afraid to make any gestures without a sign from above.
