As part of the program to promote Egypt in current markets, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of the country invited a group of Ukrainian bloggers to visit the main «set» of tourist destinations in Egypt. The weeklong promotional tour included a route through Cairo, Luxor and Hurghada. Recall that in the «coronavirus» circumstances, it was Ukraine, as well as Belarus, remained the main suppliers of tourists for Egypt.
In Luxor, the group visited the Karnak Temples, Rams Alley and Deir al-Bahari Temple in the city’s West Bank, and also took a Nile cruise. In Cairo, the program included the pyramids of Giza and a new archaeological site at the Sakkara necropolis. Bloggers were even allowed to take a tour of the Djoser Step Pyramid, although tourists are usually not allowed on it.
“The bloggers expressed satisfaction with their experience, stressing that they feel safe, confident and reassured by the seriousness of the precautions and preventive measures applied by Egypt in all museums, archaeological sites and hotels against the coronavirus,” the ministry said.
Ministry officials recalled that as of December, Egypt has received 1.4 million tourists since it reopened its seaside resorts Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada and Marsa Matru to international flights and foreign tourists last July after a three-month stopover from for the coronavirus pandemic. By the way, in the «pre-coronavirus» 2019, according to the Ukrainian Embassy in Egypt, about 1.5 million Ukrainians rested in Egypt.
