The new road to Sharm el Sheikh shortens the travel time to the resort from Cairo, taking about 4 hours. The new highway to Sharm el-Sheikh was opened by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The highway starts from the tunnel of the Martyr Ahmed Hamdi, passing through the cities of the Gulf of Suez and is 342 kilometers long to Sharm el-Sheikh. The road is equipped with petrol stations, ambulances and sewer networks.
President Sisi also opened a bridge over the Suez Canal, which has a total length of 700 meters and a width of 24 meters.
In 2019, and at the beginning of next year, the Russian authorities decided not to open flights with tourists to the Red Sea resorts, nevertheless, flights to Cairo are officially allowed. This is certainly not the most budgetary option, but quite acceptable for those who miss Egypt and want to purchase a tour from Russian tour operators.
