A new program called «Come to Egypt» is planned to be launched by the country’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The main goal of the program is to attract tourists vacationing at the resorts of the Red Sea to excursion programs to Egyptian antiquities.
To this end, the program plans to connect Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh with Luxor with additional flights. Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Khaled al-Anani, said the program will open new flight routes connecting Luxor with the Red Sea resorts in order to make it easier for tourists to visit «the remarkable archaeological sites of Luxor.»
“This program will be fruitful and will lead to a solid unification of various types of tourism in Egypt,” the minister said. The ministry plans to present the details of the program at the ITB Berlin Travel exhibition, which is to begin in March in Germany. The agency is also working to digitize the booking process for archaeological sites and museums across the country so that tourists can buy tickets online in advance. The ministry hopes that the move will eliminate long lines at popular tourist destinations in Egypt.
