Mohammed Osman, vice-president of the Chamber of Tourism Companies in Luxor, said that the influx of tourists into the city continues unabated and that the attractions of Luxor are open to tourists. And there really is something to see: in Luxor, there are the famous Valley of the Pharaohs, the Temple of Hatchepsut, the Colossi of Memnon, the Temples of Luxor and Karnak and many more pearls of the Middle Kingdom.
The question of the availability of Luxor for tourists arose after the story of the discovery of a coronavirus a week ago on a cruise ship sailing between Aswan and Luxor. Then the infected tourist first infected the ship’s crew, and through it, a new group of tourists. One of them is a German 60 years old, after a cruise he left for Hurghada, where he died from coronavirus. “Luxor Airport has received four flights in the last 24 hours from European cities with French, German and Spanish tourists on board,” Mohammed Osman told Egypt Today. “The Turkish flight, which brought 107 tourists from different countries, arrived at dawn. This is in addition to the domestic flights that fly in from Cairo and bring dozens of tourists to Luxor every day, ”he added.
The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has confirmed that Luxor accepts tourists from Hurghada and other Red Sea resorts without restrictions, so that they can join the ancient Egyptian attractions.
Mustafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Antiquities, added that tourism activities in Egypt have not been canceled due to the coronavirus incident and that the tourism sector is operating on a regular basis.
