Egypt announced its readiness to sign an agreed security protocol at the country’s airports to resume air links with Russia. This was stated by the ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Russian Federation, Mohammed el-Badri.
Recall that at the beginning of this month, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich announced that in order to resume flights with Egypt, Moscow expects a response from Cairo on a draft agreement on security at the country’s airports. “To continue flights, it is necessary to conclude agreements that will regulate all security issues at Egyptian airports while Egyptian colleagues are studying the draft agreement,” he said then.
“I read Dvorkovich’s statement. I’m not sure whether he said this or not, but I would like to guarantee that we fully support the already agreed protocol on this issue, we have adhered to this position for the last five months, «said Mohammed el-Badri, RIA Novosti reported.
Also, the ambassador especially stressed that this issue had been closed since last February, and Cairo informed the Russian side that it fully agreed with the draft protocol. “I was one of those who notified our Russian partners about this. The signing of the protocol by the two relevant ministries is a formality for which we are ready, since it is an agreed text. We can sign it at any minute, but we await the decision of the Russian government to resume flights between the capitals, ”said Mohammed el-Badri.
