The construction of the Great Museum of Egypt, which is scheduled to open in 2015, has entered its final phase. This was stated by the Minister of Antiquities of Egypt.
A new museum is being built on the highway linking Cairo and Alexandria, under the watchful eye of the Great Pyramids of Giza. According to Mr. Ali, the project will cost the treasury 5 billion Egyptian pounds, of which the Japanese government allocated the bulk, which provided Egypt with a loan on concessional terms with a deferred payment for ten years after the opening of the museum.
The current stage of construction is designed for three years and four months and should be completed in August 2015. The museum, initiated by the former Minister of Antiquities, today provides work for five thousand people. When the exposition opens its doors, fifteen thousand more employees will work here. In addition to jobs, the museum will provide the country with a significant influx of budgetary funds from foreign tourists.
