Egypt will exempt tourists arriving on charter flights from visa fees until the end of October, until the end of the summer tourist season. This decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers of the country — it will become part of measures to stimulate tourism after the expected resumption of flights in the coming period.
Recall that among these measures, services for air carriers at the resort airports of Egypt will also significantly fall in price — first of all, Hurghada and South Sinai will significantly fall in price. This was stated by the Minister of Civil Aviation Mohammad Manar Enaba — according to him, the ministry will provide airlines with discounts on certain services at the airports of South Sinai, Hurghada and Matruh, namely 50% discount on boarding and parking, as well as 20% discount on ground handling.
For Russian tourists, this visa fee in Egypt cost $ 25. At the same time, in «peaceful» times, attempts were made to cancel this collection, then, on the contrary, to increase it.
Let us also recall one more gratifying statement. Charter flights to Egyptian resort cities will be restored — such a statement came from the mouth of a high Russian diplomatic official, albeit in the statement of Egyptian sources. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov stated this in an interview with the Al-Ahram newspaper. According to him, Russia is seriously interested in the soonest restoration of «full-format» (ie, charter) air communication with Egypt and the restoration of tourist ties.
“We highly appreciate the existing level of multifaceted Russian-Egyptian cooperation and are interested in its further strengthening. In recent years, Russia and Egypt have done significant work to investigate the causes of the disaster and improve the level of safety of air traffic, ”said the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister.
He also noted that while the pandemic has made its own adjustments to these «good intentions.» “But we will inevitably come to the conclusion that charter flights to Egyptian resort cities will be restored,” the deputy foreign minister stressed.
