Hurghada opened for German tourists — the international airport of the main Egyptian resort received the first flight of the German airline «Condor». The organization of the flight «was the result of a fruitful coordination between the ministries of aviation, tourism and antiquities,» — assessed the Egyptian media.
The flight that departed from Frankfurt transported 220 tourists worn out by the Red Sea to Hurghada. Travelers were greeted with memorable souvenirs — in addition to flowers and chocolate, members of the Egyptian Tourism Development Council distributed among tourists advertising materials about Egypt, as well as souvenirs from its picturesque places.
This flight will operate weekly until mid-March, and then the frequency of flights will increase to three flights per week. At least that’s how they expect it in Egypt.
At the same time, Egypt again harbors hopes for the early return of Russian tourists. Egyptian civil aviation sources confirmed that the Russian aviation security inspectorate was satisfied with the measures taken at the Egyptian airports in Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh after a six-day inspection. The delegation examined security measures in the departure and arrival halls, baggage and passenger security procedures, the presence of security personnel around airports, and compliance with coronavirus precautions. The source added that the delegation highly appreciated the video surveillance systems at both airports, the storage capacity of which was increased to 30 days instead of the seven demanded by Russia, as well as the use of thermal imaging cameras inside the airport’s runway to monitor operations over long distances.
The delegation left for Russia, and as a source in Egypt emphasized to the TURPROM newsgroup correspondent, the country hopes that its resolution will form the basis for the decision of the Russian leadership to resume direct charter flights from Russian cities to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh.
